I played in a band with Alex, we practiced for just a month and played only 1 show.
And no one will ever know how lucky I feel for that.
RIP Friend.

I've known for just under 24 hours. I kept it together for most of the day, only coming close to crying once. Now I can't stop.

*Tears have stopped.
He and his friends are great people. So much energy, so much enthusiasm and positivity.

This is so terribly sad. I hope his family and friends are taking care of themselves and each other.

I found out with Mark last night. It's too much. There are so manythings Alex was that many of us only wish we could be. He was an incredibly positive person, who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was unashamed and unabashed about loving everything he was passionate about with all his heart, including all of the people around him. He was an amazing and unique individual who walked his own path and I know for a fact that he was an amazing friend. He will be missed more than he could ever know.

did not know him. We have some mutual friends though. They're pretty torn up. Sad to see a local lost. My thoughts go out to family and friends.

I didn't know the guy that well but he always spoke his mind on locals no matter what anyone thought. He seemed like a cool guy. Sorry to hear about this.

I just broke on air trying to spread word on the show tomorrow. Please go if you can - I'd be there if I could.

I can't sleep.

It didn't fully hit me until a few hours ago. I heard this morning, but spent most of the day just too shocked to really let it sink in what had happened and what it meant. I also spent a good part of the day feeling weird and uncomfortable because I felt like I couldn't totally own what I was feeling about it, because maybe we weren't "super close". But whatever, Alex was awesome - I've never met anyone who enjoyed music so thoroughly, with every ounce of his being, or who seemed so genuinely earnest and positive all the time. Sometimes I made fun of him but I know that he knew it was good natured and I know that although we didn't hang out regularly I always considered him a good friend. Mark, Ger and I drove up to CB with him last year, and Gerry and I talked tonight about how awesome it was, and how it was like having a younger brother for a weekend. It was great.

Ryan, I tried to call you today, but Andrew answered your phone. I didn't really expect you to pick up, considering. My heart goes out to you guys.. Despite whatever else he had going on, Alex was lucky to have some of the best friends anyone could ask for in you guys. (Lachlan, Ryan, Andrew, Sarah, Kelly, etc) And he definitely knew it. Stay strong, pals.

This is really weird and sad? This is messed up. I only got to really meet/sort of hang out with Alex for the first time while we were just back in Halifax. All I can think or say is... that guy's not supposed to die.
