Lol...no problem with the bump.
I said earlier I don't doubt you in your ability at playing complex time signatures. I just didn't recall hearing them in Tomcat Combat, but then again I only caught half a set and recently watched a few Youtube videos. Don't get me wrong, I really like the band and I'm not knocking you. Anyways, you explained that half of your songs were in 4/4 and most contained 12/8 passages...which is pretty much 4/4, then you proceeded to say that I wouldn't notice your odd time signatures, while I tend to think that I would.
I'm not trying to be as much of a dick as you think I am, but whatever. I'd like to hear some of the odd time signature stuff but I can't find it on the net, so if you have a link post it, but you sound far too pissed for that.
Yes, 12/8 is just a way of saying we played triplets over 4/4
Regardless, I have no reason to prove to you that our songs had non 4/4 time signatures. I know they did, because I was playing them!
But if it will shut you up and get you out of my thread, you can go puzzle over these:
Video - try and count the chorus riff, and the middle breakdown/bridge - the bass and drums are playing in 3/4 (or 3/8 depending on your point of view) while the guitars and keyboard play mostly in 4/4 (I could never really pay attention to them without messing up my own part!)
Myspace- You can hear 'Ponies on Ice' and count the verse however the hell you want. If you think it's 4/4, great, I'm happy for you!
Just FYI, you can tap your foot 1, 2, 3, 4 throughout a song until the cows come home. Doesn't mean it's in 4/4 time, just that you can tap your foot 4 times and start over.
I'm sort of obsessed with this stuff so I could talk about it all day. I'd rather be playing it though, so more bumpage!
